Just a mile outside of Yellowstone National Park and surrounded by the Gallatin National Forest and the Lee Metcalf Wilderness, the Elkhorn has been a dude ranch since 1922 . We are now in third generation management, and in some cases, fourth generation dudes. Continuity has created our tradition!
As you would guess, life here is oriented around the outdoors. Almost all of our guests, around forty a week, come to ride, although there are a few avid fishermen and some hikers.
There are twenty-four crew during the summer months; we live on the ranch and all are encouraged to take part in activities when schedules allow. The heavy interaction between guests and crew is one of the things that everyone seems to enjoy most about the ranch.
We will begin opening the ranch in mid-May and all crew will need to arrive by June 15th and stay at least until the beginning of September. If you send in the application, please be sure to be accurate on the dates you would like to come, and when you would have to leave.
Elkhorn provides room and board in addition to wages.
The positions for which we hire are:
RANCH CHEF - responsible for all aspects of feeding up to seventy people (guests and crew) including meal preparation, menu planning, ordering and team making.
BAKER/SECOND COOK - looking for an individual that is comfortable in the kitchen and highly organized. Does not need to be a certified baker, but needs to be creative and enjoy baking.

PEANUT BUTTER PARENTS - kid wranglers/counselors - for those who love children and understand horses!
WRANGLERS (Still looking for 2010 season!) - a variety of people, a variety of horses, and a variety of chores; experienced in guiding or teaching a real plus!
